Beauty advent calendar value calculator
Last updated: · By Beauty Advent Guide Desk
Use this calculator to judge any beauty advent calendar before you buy. Enter its price, retailer-stated value, item counts and the share of items you would actually use. It returns the stated value ratio, a realistic value, your saving or loss, cost per item, cost per day and a plain verdict.
How does the calculator work out value?
The stated value ratio divides the retailer-stated value by the price. "Realistic value" multiplies the stated value by the percentage of items you would actually use, because the retailer's claimed sum of full prices is only a saving if you would buy the items anyway. Realistic saving or loss subtracts the price from that realistic value.
Why does the "items you would actually use" slider matter?
Both Flavour Mag and FindSubscriptionBoxes stress that "value" is the retailer's claimed sum of full prices, not savings unless you would buy the items anyway. A calendar worth a stated £1,300 at £285 looks like a 4.6× bargain, but if you would only use 40% of the contents, the realistic value is about £520, not £1,300. The slider, which defaults to 60%, makes that honest adjustment for you.
What is a worked example?
The table below runs the LOOKFANTASTIC Beauty calendar through the same maths at the default 60% usage setting. It costs £120 with a stated value of £665 and contains 27 products, 19 of them full size.
| Measure | Result |
|---|---|
| Stated value ratio | 5.5× the price |
| Realistic value (60% used) | £399.00 |
| Realistic saving | £279.00 |
| Cost per item | £4.44 |
| Cost per day (25 days) | £4.80 |
| Full-size share | 70% (19 of 27) |
Where do the preset figures come from?
Every preset is taken from our research checked on October 15, 2026, and all values are retailer-stated. Where a value is "over" a figure (for example Sephora Favourites UK at over £1,000) we use the stated floor. Where no value is stated (Harrods, Amazon, Dior) the value field is left blank and ratio results are skipped. See the full tables on our UK calendars and US calendars pages.
